FHE Ideas

  1. Show your family where your food storage is (explain you may need it sometimes when food is not available – flood, fire, earthquake) then for a treat bake something from food storage and eat it.

  2. Ask the family what special treats or food they would like to have in family food storage – ask if they will eat it on a regular basis, helping to keep it rotated (put a calendar on the refrigerator and check off when each child has eaten (rotated his food or treat).

  3. Discuss starting a vegetable garden, agree on what vegetables or fruits the family would like in their garden, then set a time, plant the garden and ask the children to help take care of it. Then, eat the food as it is ripe, ahhhh so good.

  4. Plan and prepare for a “lights out” evening where no technology or electricity can be used. Have your usual FHE by candle light or flashlight continue the evening in this manner.

  5. Scavenger hunt for items around the house that can be used for a 72-hour kit. Could be great before/after spring cleanings.
