Ward Programs

Each Ward in the Stake has a separate plan tailored to the individual ward and its needs established by the ward Council. You are encouraged to identify your Emergency Preparedness Leader and request involvement within the plan. You can find these contacts by logging into "Member Tools" app of your smart phone or signing into https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org for the ward directory.

Local CERT Organizations

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. CERT offers a consistent, nationwide approach to volunteer training and organization that professional responders can rely on during disaster situations, which allows them to focus on more complex tasks. Through CERT, the capabilities to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters is built and enhanced. [ready.gov]

You should be able to attend CERT from any City. Find one that best fits your schedule.

For More information please visit read.gov for more materials and resources related to CERT programs.

Get HAM Radio Licensed

It is likely, in high impacting disasters, communications will be hindered which will prevent getting help to those who need it most. HAM radio is a good alternative that does not rely on any infrastructure to communicate. Learn more by visiting ARRL's website http://www.arrl.org/what-is-ham-radio and join ARES®/RACES organizations to volunteer in local events to practice emergency communications.
